What are NLA’s Online Learning Pods?
At Northern Lights Academy, our online learning pods give students the consistency and interaction they need to thrive. Designed for homeschoolers, worldschoolers, and medically complex learners, each pod brings together a small group of peers for live, twice-weekly classes led by experienced educators. Lessons are interactive, hands-on, and are designed to help learners build core academic skills like reading, writing, and math while allowing room for flexibility, creativity, and joy.

Meet the Pods
Ignite Pod (Ages 6–8)
Description:
Ignite Pod supports early primary learners as they build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and science through movement, play, and multi-sensory learning. With small-group support and a warm learning environment, students gain confidence while developing key academic skills.
Key Skills:
Reading: Phonemic awareness, decoding, sight words, fluency
Writing: Letter formation, punctuation, sentence structure, oral storytelling
Math: Foundational number sense, basic operations, shapes, measurement, place value, early word problems and real-world problem solving.
- Science: Exploring properties of materials, weather and seasonal changes, life cycles, force and motion, and the local environment through hands-on observation, prediction, and classification.
Schedule & Details:
Meets twice a week (60 minutes per session)
- Early bird – $629.00 (July 31st) Regular $829.00 (full school year) – payment plans available

Thrive Pod (Ages 9–11)
Description:
Thrive Pod is designed for primary learners who are ready to take their academic skills to the next level. Through guided discussions, collaborative tasks, and individualized instruction, learners strengthen reading comprehension, clear written expression, practical math fluency and scientific thinking across a range of topics.
Key Skills:
Reading: Main idea, fiction & nonfiction comprehension, fluency, vocabulary
Writing: Paragraph writing, editing, grammar, writing for different purposes
Math: Multi-digit operations, foundational multiplication and division, intro to fractions and decimals, data interpretation, measurement, and applied problem-solving.
- Science: Investigating energy, matter, body systems, ecosystems, and the Earth through hands-on experiments, data collection, analysis, and critical thinking.

- Meets twice a week (60 minutes per session)

More Than Just Pods
Students enrolled in our online learning pods also receive unlimited access to all Lil’ Learners Club classes and can join any age appropriate social groups from Sept – June at no extra cost. It’s all part of building a connected, well-rounded learning experience.
Lil' Learners Club Classes
Lil’ Learners Club is suitable for our younger pod students who enjoy playful, interactive classes that extend their learning through movement, stories, games, and creativity.
Social Groups
Our social groups give learners a chance to connect, collaborate, and have fun outside of class time—with interest-based groups and guided activities designed to build friendships and community.
